new start

It's been a terribly long time since I visited this here blog, but times are changing. Just over a month ago I upped sticks and moved to Gothenburg or Göteborg as you should say in Sweden. Im studying a two year masters at HDK so lots of new illustration and design work...

Liseberg on the sunniest October day, It's the prettiest amusement park I imagine its how an amusement park in a Wes Anderson film would look.

My local park, so lovely to have so much space in a city if only the healthy Swedish people didn't make me feel guilty for walking around at a leisurely pace not running or jogging.

My walk to school a sign that the season are changing, I'm excited but terrified at what a scandinavian winter will hold other than long days of darkness.

concentration

I'm trying to get into better working habits as after leaving university my concentration span has wavered somewhat. I used to have a flat to myself to work in during the day, now I am back at home and sharing my space with my very old senile cat who wants constant attention. After many attempts of sitting on my lap or on my sketchbook she finally collapsed on the bed for a small respite, sadly it didn't last long.

Tea

It's a new year, and like many I have good intentions to fulfill as ever one of these would be to use my blog, another is to take more photo's so the two go hand in hand. I have always been very lax in taking photo's preferring to enjoy the moment rather than attempt to record it while it is happening, sadly this means I very rarely have anything to look back on so this is something I am going to try and change.

To start with my amazing afternoon tea at Bettys in York, it was so nice to sit in watching the snow fall as I drank the nicest earl grey I have ever tasted.

fortune tonight story

A short graphic story I worked on over the summer. I think I would like to have try and create a longer story but through painting and drawing, sadly all I can foresee is smudged paintings due to my clumsy elbows.

poster exhibition

I had a poster in an exhibition at Liverpool School of Art curated by burneverything

It had some really good work and ran alongside the gig as advertised by the posters.

I received a letter to say that I have been highly commended in this years Cheltenham Illustration Awards, so should be on their website for another year. I would love to go to the awards to see the exhibition and listen to Tom Gauld and Simone Lia but sadly my bank balance does not permit me.
